While travelling or walking or cycling, drawing, painting the joyful emotions felt mostly by surprise, have been my inspiration.
Spending time with friends and people, drawing, painting portraits is a great moment
Painting abstract art is also very fulfilling as a way to express your more personal emotions, dreams, thoughts.
Mostly using bright colours to travel towards joy as the ultimate reason to live one's life
Drawing comic book stories is great fun too

Sharing with others all of this to take them towards their own artistic adventure is true delight

Karine Gray is available for private bookings

ProfileI am inspired by traditional styles of painting, like Indian/Persian miniatures, but I blend these ancient forms with historical cultural elements from primitive times to create a new vocabulary of my own. Using the rich colours of gouache and water colour I apply layers, literally with the paint, as well as metaphorically with the content. My painting is my ritual, my celebration, my essence. My research and ideas flow simultaneously together and make up the fabric of my work. I u

During the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, I returned to work in front line A&E. These were stressful days and one evening on returning, my young daughter asked me to pain with her. I had not painted before and was a bit apprehensive and she said, 'paint like no one is watching'! So I did! I found it so therapeutic and realised I had an untapped creative well inside of me. I love the work of Claude Monet (particularly of his paintings in Giverny) and was very sad to learn he went blind from cat

Title or Location: Light on Judi
I paint in acrylics and paint landscapes. However decades ago I spent more time drawing faces than any other forms of art. I?d use a very black pencil and focus on form and values. A return to my interest in portraiture felt long overdue and this is the second in my series of well known faces. I like strongly directional light for portraits and what is more appropriate than have a star like Judi Dench drenched in light. Sadly I have not had the pleasure to meet Dame Judi, so my reference pho

Winter?s grip on the Straits of Mackinac slowly melts away with each passing day of warm sunshine.
